PDP desecrated Martyrs Graveyard: NC ‘PDP sent ration thieves, land-grabbers, ex-Ikhwanis to demean Martyrs’ ‘Tariq Karra a glorified land-shark and expert scamster’ Srinagar, July 14 (KNS): Lashing out at PDP for sending land-grabbers, ration thieves, turn-coats and ex-Ikhwanis to desecrate the sacred soil of the Martyrs Graveyard on Martyrs Day on Sunday, National Conference has termed PDP MP Tariq Hameed Karra a glorified land-shark and expert scamster who lacks the Parliamentary grace and ethical credentials to represent the historic and culturally rich city of Srinagar. National Conference Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu has said that Tariq Karra has been extremely unnerved by being exposed as a fraud, conman and land-shark who wants to render dozens of families homeless to satiate his lust for undeserved wealth by inventing completely unconnected ancestors and grabbing land that he has no legal claim on. NC Spokesman has said that Tariq Karras audacity to talk about political trade-offs was a brazen hypocrisy given that he is following a person who has made a record number of political trade-offs with the States regional autonomy, character and dignity in his career. Someone should wake Karra up from his political delirium and remind him that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has not only been instrumental in eroding Article 370 but has also been involved in toppling more democratically elected governments in J&K than those he has been a part of, the NC Spokesman said. The NC Spokesman said that Tariq Karra has no right to talk about the interests of the State given that his own family and Uncle, G. M. Sadiq was instrumental in eroding Article 370 and changing the nomenclature and stature from Prime Minister to Chief Minister on the instructions of his patrons and lords in Delhi at that time. Saying that Tariq Karra should lie at least a little more subtly now that he is an MP, the NC Spokesman said that not only is Mufti Sayeed the architect of AFSPA and Disturbed Areas Act in the State but is also the pioneer of Operation Tiger and Operation Catch and Kill in Kashmir. Just minutes away from Mazar-e-Shohada is the Gaw Kadal bridge which bears a chilling testimony to Mufti Sayeeds Gaw Kadal Massacre in which dozens of innocent Kashmiris were gunned down ruthlessly under the directions of then Home Minister and now PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Tariq Karra should make a reality-check trip - both literally and metaphorically - and visit those places and blood soaked lanes of Kashmir which were drenched in the blood of innocents by none other than Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the NC Spokesman said while saying that PDP had desecrated the historic and sacrosanct Martyrs Graveyard by sending a delegation of ration-thieves, land-grabbers, ex-Ikhwanis and extortionists to demean and desecrate our Martyrs sacrifices - who are valiant heroes who laid down their lives for a life of dignity for their people. The NC Spokesman said that Tariq Karra had uttered lies and distorted version of history about Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah without owning the guilt that his party Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was complicit in the assassination of Shaheed Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and was responsible for ordering troops to open fire on his funeral procession that resulted in the death of 73 innocent Kashmiris. Does Karra have an answer for the why Mufti Sayeed first refused security to Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and then once he was assassinated, he didnt even have the humanity to spare his mourners? Or is that a political tradeoff that Karra has already made with his conscience in order to toe Mufti Sayeeds line?, Mattu asked Karra to answer. “Height of irony is that Tariq Karra is terming NC a party of turncoats. He is either day-dreaming or is unnerved by the expose of land-grabbing against him. Isnt it a fact that Karra was conspiring to split PDP into half months before the Parliament Election? Isnt it a fact that Karra had repeatedly approached National Conference to join the party? Isnt it a fact that Karra had submitted a written application to the State Congress Chief addressed to Sonia Gandhi that he wanted to join Congress just months prior to the Parliament Election? Isnt it a fact that PDP is a coalition of individuals who have come from every single possible political party in the State? Or are those political turncoats acceptable to PDP just because they are united in their thirst for power under PDPs banner? Isnt Karra a turncoat himself by his self-righteous definition? These are questions that Karra can never answer, the NC Spokesman said. Stating that Tariq Karra was the master kingpin of loot and plunder in the State during his tenure as the Finance Minister in the PDP government, the NC Spokesman said Karras indictment in the Kundal Committee Report was just one of the proofs of his tendencies of corruption, embezzlement and misappropriation. How does Karra have the nerve to talk about the interests of this State when he was Mufti Sayeeds designated engineer of mass corruption and embezzlement? Karras tenure as the Finance Minister was the worst in the history of the State and his most distinguished achievement was to shame the State and its people by drowning the State in such unprecedented corruption that J&K became Indias most corrupt State during PDP rule, Mattu said. “Tariq Karra should work on trying to elevate his thinking to a higher level of complexity than comparing apples and oranges in matters of policy. Omar Abdullah opposed the dilution of IITs based on a well-established premise that brands of excellence in education should not be turned into chains. Now that the BJP government has announced an IIT for Jammu, Omar Abdullah has asked for an equitable treatment for Kashmir Valley. Why is PDP so stung by NC speaking up for the rights of the youth of Kashmir?, the NC Spokesman asked while terming PDPs rhetoric as hypocritical and ironic. The NC Spokesman lashed out at Karra for lying through his teeth about PDP not putting curbs on separatists during their tenure and reminded Karra that PDP not only handed out hundreds of PSAs during his tenure but also targeted and gunned down militant commanders one by one even when there was an effective cease-fire in effect that was achieved by the sustained efforts of reconciliation by the previous National Conference government. They picked and selected who should be killed and who should be spared during their tenure. Karra should do some research and look into why certain militant commanders were sought and killed while a couple were spared. Perhaps Mufti Sahab can enlighten Karra on the reasons and rationale of this selective assault on the lives of Kashmiris”, Mattu said. (KNS)
