PDP expresses concern over water crises in Kishtwar; Kishtwar, Aug 14: Peoples Democratic Party has expressed serious concern over severe water scarcity in Kishtwar township and its outskirts and threaten district wise agitation in case authorities failed to look into the matter.In a joint statement issued here today party leaders Noor Hussain Malik, Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza, Cap. (Retd.) Mohd Ashraf Kichloo, Wasil Doolwal, Arshid Giri, Khalid Mir, Rehmat Choudhary, Zahid Hussain and Sheikh Iqbal sid that the PHE department has created artifical scarcity of water in all most entire township nd its outskirts living people to fetch drinking water from natural sources for travelling several kilometers on foot. The areas of Goorian, Shahidi Mohalla, Shakti Nagar, Malipeth, Cherhar, Poochal, Hatta, Hullar, Trigam were the worst hit and despite severe resentment the district administration was least bothered to mitigate the sufferings of people, the statement reads. The PDP leaders said that the distribution system has completely collapsed as result of which water was not being properly supplied to the residents. They said that some blue eyed officials in the department were responsible for the entire mess while the district administration station ha adopted a criminal silence over the issue. They flayed the NC MLA who was also a Minister for being non serious towards mitigating the public grievances. When the entire area is facing acute problem due to the water crises the minister forced the entire administration to accompany him in a far flung area in a show of might, they said and added that even the PDD officials accompanied the minister to Warwan when the area has no electricity supply at all. This, they said, speaks volumes about the conduct and intentions of the local representative. The PDP leaders warned that in case the authorities failed to ensure adequate and regular water supply to all the effected areas in three days the party will launch a massive agitation.
