PDP rued over selling of Maharaja Hari Singh park to hoteliers Jammu:04,Aug-2013.Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has threatened Jammu and Kashmir Government to revoke sale order of chunk of land in already proposed Maharaja Hari Singh Park along the banks of river Tawi or ready to face agitation Pertinently, on April 1, 2012, Union Health Minister and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir State, Ghulam Nabi Azad in presence prominent citizens and several thousand people in this winter capital city dedicated the park to city for enhancing beauty of Jammu city. Earlier, on April 23, 2013, minister for urban development, Nawang Rigzin Jora visited the site band announced that the park would be completed in phase manner and announced Rs. 2.50 crore the first phase but due to some unknown reason Jammu Development Authority (JDA) invited bids for 8 kanals land form park..As per sources JDA sold the lad to an influnced hotelier of the town on 2.56 crore per kanals. Addressing a press conference, Rafiq Malik, state secretary PDP in-charge its labour cell Jammu Province lashed state government and JDA for illegally sealing 8 kanal of land to Jammu based business person for construction of lavish Hotel. He said that government run a like real estate company as they illegally sold a major portion of Maharaja Hari Singh Park land to an influenced Hotelier for building a five star hotel. Malik added, “Business in Jammu only depends on Vaishno Devi pilgrims and with direct train service to Katra many traders of the city are on verge of closing their business or seeking another options for livelihood due apathetical attitude of government.” He also alleged that government had kept them in the dark about notifying the advertisement regarding auction of land and had not even consulted the locals before allotting the same to business person. He added that locals of the area feel cheated, a morning walker and local resident said, “If we were promised a park in the heart of the city by the union minister who also remained a former chief minister why the state government has failed to complete the necessary work in the park or why they sealing the land of the park. He alleged that from last so many years Jammu is not developed for tourist and instead of creating tourism related avenues the authorities seems lees concern about common trader and in minting money by selling public property. He claimed that much talked about park along the banks of river in city heart brings a ray of hope among Jammuite but decision of sealing its major portion creates confusion among the residences.. The PDP leaders threatened to intensify the agitation against land trader if the decision was not revoked. Ajay Raina, Dinesh Verma, Jagtar Singh Jagga, Rakesh Sharma and H S Raina among other were also presented in the conference.
