PDP threatens to stop the proposed sale of the Edo House in Lagos BENIN— EDO State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has threatened to stop the proposed sale of the Edo House in Lagos, by the state government, describing the move to sell the multi-billion Naira edifice as unacceptable. Edo State Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, who addressed journalists in Benin, weekend, said the planned sale of the asset was faulty, adding, “We have come out to reject the entire process. The Edo House valued at N3.5 billion was the most prized asset of the state.” He queried the process of selecting Segun Asaju, the Estate Agent handles the sale of the property, pointing out that there were more qualified Estate Valuers of Edo State origin that were not given the opportunity to partake in the process. Reacting, Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Media and Publicity, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, said that the state government intends to sell the house “because that is the best thing to do in the light of long years of decay in the hands of PDP government.” He said that rather than abandon a property in Lagos, the state government will utilize its economic value for the overall good of the people of Edo State. What purpose is Edo House serves in Lagos as we speak when there are lots of developmental challenges back home in Edo State?”
