PDP workers protest ‘omitting’ local MLA’s name Govt should ensure due respect for institution of legislator: Javaid Beig ALTAF BABA Baramulla, Sep 28: Infuriated over skipping the name of MLA Baramulla and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig in the inaugural plaque stone of district hospital Baramulla, scores of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers Saturday staged protest here. According to reports, chief minister Omar Abdullah is likely to inaugurate the newly constructed building of 300-bedded district hospital Baramulla on Sunday. However, the inaugural name plaque prepared by the Health Department does not mention the name of former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Baramulla Muzaffar Hussain Beig, evoking strong resentment among the PDP workers. "We are stunned to find the names of MPs Muhammad Shafi Uri, Sharif-ud-Din Shariq and Saif-u-Din Soz. However, there is no mention of local MLA, who pioneered this project. It speaks volumes about the biased mindset of the ruling coalition,” said agitated PDP workers. According to reports, scores of PDP workers infuriated over skipping the name of local MLA in the plaque, exchanged heated words with the hospital authorities. However, the hospital authorities reportedly showed their ignorance on the issue. Talking to Greater Kashmir, Javaid Hussain Beig state secretary of PDP and PRO of Muzaffar Hussain Beigh said that it is unfortunate that the protocol is being disregarded for petty political interests. "It is a normal protocol that whenever chief minister visits a place for some inaugural ceremony, the MLA of that place is well informed and invited on the occasion. However, this time the local MLA has not been invited and even his name has been skipped from the plaque. If chief minister does not respect the institution of MLA, then he is humiliating his own institution,” said Javed Nazia Beigh
