PDP workers to resign en-masse in Sopore ‘Mir helped Naikoo to get mandate’ cnskashmir Sopore, Sahil Nazir,July 8, CNS: Resentment is brewing among People’s Democratic Party workers after the party awarded mandate for Sopore constituency to the brother-in-law of senior leader Muhammad Dilawar Mir. Party leader Muhammad Shezad Asim told CNS that a convention will be organized in Dak Banglow Sopore in which PDP workers from Sopore will resign en-masse. “At least 400 workers will quit PDP on Wednesday. We are all fuming over the party decision to award mandate to such a candidate who has no base and faith in the constituency. Nobody knows who Nazir Naikoo is,” Asim said. He added that party awarded mandates in an unfair manner. “Some influential people were accommodated at the cost of deserving candidates. Raja Ajaz Ali was given mandate because he is the relative of Syed Altaf Bukhari. Similarly Nazir Naikoo was chosen candidate because Dilwar Mir is his brother-in-law,” he said. Despite repeated attempts Nazir Naikoo could not be contacted, however, senior PDP leader Muhammad Dilawar Mir told CNS that Shezad Asim is at liberty and he can resign with all his supporters. “It was the decision of party High Command to award mandate to Nazir Naikoo for Sopore Constituency and I had nothing to with it,” Mir said.
