PEACE BE STILL IN EKITI Tracing back to the history of the state called the Land of Honour,it will be interesting to know that the state has always been known for peace.Right from her independence from the Old Ondo State on October 1st,1996,her citizenry has been maintaining the peace at the highest level which makes the state to be investors haven. The recent development in the state in the last few days calls for questionning,which if not properly taken care of,it will undermine the peace been enjoyed by the people of the state.On June 21,2014,peace loving Ekiti people went to the poll to exercise there franchise of choosing there preferred candidate,someone that will pilot the affairs of the state in the next 4 years,as expected,the people voted,and at the end of the poll,it was confirmed that peoples will prevail by the emergence of the candidate of there choice. After the poll,which was adjudged to be free nd fair by all stakeholders in the country,jubilations erupted in the capital city and all other parts of the state joined in celebrating the man of the people,singing victory songs,which is associated with an electoral victory. The incumbent Governor,whose tenure has been adjudged the most peaceful administration in the history of the state,in the spirit of sportmanship congratulated the Governor-Elect on his electoral victory. In the wake of what happened at the concluded poll,it is believed that the peace enjoyed by the citizen of the state will continue to blossom,but reverse is the case. Not long after the election,the governor went to the law court to seek redress on the outcome of the election,which is a normal phenomenon,thatshould be devoid of violence.As predicted,the hearing in the Elections Petitions Tribunal turns out to be the beginning of rancor and violence in the state,that as caused so many untold hardship and havoc in the state capital. In other not to be partisan in my write up,am emploring all parties involved in the case to shield there swords and come together to settle things amicably,because the peace been enjoyed in the last 4 years can not be toyed with. Ekiti land is for all of us,building it should be our utmost priority not bringing it down,out leaders should remember that weather what they do is right or wrong,history will remember them in years to come. I must commend the incumbent Governor for the was he has conducted himself so far inspite of the challenges facing his existence at the top seat of governance,history will never forget you Sir.It is necessary that both the Governor-Elect and the Incumbent should come together not minding political affiliations to build the Land of Honour together,the state has always been known to be peaceful which attracts so many investors in the last 4 years,we must continue in this momentum. To those who lost there lives in the fracas,may there gentle soul rest in perfect peace,to those that lose goods worth millions of naira,may God replenish your purse. All ekiti indigenes both home and abroad should always pray for the peaceful co-existence of all and sundry in the state,having in mind that Ekiti is our place of abode and we must protect our integrity against evil act no matter how hard it is.
