PECO re-establishes power supply Engr. Randy Pastolero, PECO vice-president for operations and general manager, said the black out is to protect the plant from the quake and possible aftershocks because there are vital equipment inside that are sensitive when the ground is in motion. PPC is restarting their power units and is also conducting inspection of their vessel engines. PPC cannot handle the restoration alone because shocks are sensitive. The lines should be aligned or else it will be detrimental to their equipment. He also added that the diesel plant is capable of restoring its power in a short period of time while it will take six (6) hours for the coal plant to restore its power because they need to restart their units again. Due to the high demand of power supply, consumers should expect occasional power outrages. PECO also identified 9 out 24 feeders non-functional due to the strong magnitude of the earthquake.
