PELLEGRINI OUT Of course not, sounds ridiculous right? Ive genuinely read that today though, even a close friend of mine was moaning and groaning about Pels defensive woes, but let me make a few points on the matter of why Pellegrini is the perfect man for the job. 1) Does the double, first season in England This really is quite some achievement, think about it. Not even Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger (He was class once) could win the Premier League first season, both of them took a year to adjust . Manuel didnt even need that, and wins the League Cup just for fun on the way. Less than 12 months after his appointment, two trophies where in the bag. Its quite clear, the man is something special. 2) Citys Best Ever Manager Statistics dont lie, Manuel Pellegrini has the higest Win Ratio of ANY other City manager in history, better than Bobby Manc, Joe Mercer and Wilf Wild who won us trophies in the 30s. Hes topped them all, any by some distance. Just to put it into perspective though, Pels win ratio is almost 10% higher than Bobbys. Now dont get me wrong, i have much love for Mancini, a man who beat United 6-1, but overall Pel has been a better manager for us. 3) Battering Teams 6-0 Spurs, 7-0 Norwich, 5-0 Wigan, 6-0 West Ham, 5-0 Blackburn, 5-0 Fulham, 7-0 Wednesday. Thats 7 games in just 16 months, on average, Pellegrini has battered a team by 5 goals or more every 9 weeks since coming in. Hes got our strike force scoring goals even when theyre not in great form. 4) Gets the most out of the players Dzeko was looking on his way out towards the end of Bobby Mancs tenure, but Pel came in and whether or not you rate Dzeko, hes been better for it. Same with Kolarov, Nasri and several others 5) Champions League, Players rather than Manager? So theres debate why we are so bad in Europe, some say we need to bolster midfield or change tactics in some way. I disagree, i think the main problem has been the seeds, theyve screwed us every time. However, our other problem is we lack proper champions league experience in our squad. How many of our key players had extensive champions league experience before joining City? Silva didnt, nor Kompany, Aguero, Dzeko, Zabby etc. I think this, combined with poor first few seasons in the competition has shot their confidence in Europe, which is why we look like a reserve team made up of clones of our players during mid week continental ties. That said, we qualified last year, Pels first attempt and he achieved in one go what Bobby failed to do in both attempts. I think well crack it soon, there can only be so much bad luck before we get it right and get some European momentum going. Who knows, Moscow beat Roma and we beat Bayern at home and Roma away and well go through anyway. Could easily happen 6) Who else? Who could we get in who would guaranteed do a better job that Manuel? Who else would come in and win the league at first go?. Sure, Pellegrini has defensive issues, but all managers have their weak areas. Managers arent easily chop and changeable, just because they do well at one club doesnt mean theyll do well at another, just look at Steve McLaren, gets Middlesbrough to a European final and wins the dutch league with a team that had never won it before, but then fails to qualify for the Euros with England and failed at many other jobs. There will be a decent risk with any new manager bought in. No need to panic, we cant win them all, we were shakey at the start of last season and then look what happened.
