PENDEK KATA The bottom line is that the Malays here in Peninsular Malaysia do not want Christian missionaries to convert them. This, in fact, is hard-coded, not only in the Federal Constitution (specific prohibition on non-Islamic missionary work to Muslims) but also, it is the worst fear that all Malay Muslims have. Having seen how the pribumis in Borneo including East Timor, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and other colonies in Southeast Asia being converted to Christianity (no sizeable Christian population in Thailand), the Malays wanted to preserve the domination of Islam in their home turf. THIS IS THE BOTˇTOM LINE. And for the Church here not being sensitive to this most sensitive of issues is being seen by Malays as not only as discourteous, if not downright insolent, but also reeking of ulterior motive.
