PEOPLES COURT: Strange world WITCHCRAFT by Andyson Iji Egbodo When I was in d University, I engaged some of my senior lecturers in Philosophy department on d topic of witchcraft. We established in dat study dat witchcraft is real just as some other confraternal principalities. One of d greatest epistemoligists I have ever done academic work with, Dr Dipo Fashina now Professor at d Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife conducted an effective circumcision of d heart on me when he opened my eyes to dat theory of knowledge dat borthers on investigation, nature of any given subject, d criteria of truth and d manner in which we can know or unravel embedded mystries. We continue to face relating issues dat seem too difficult to understand on dially basis. Even when Doro song is played and u see children dancing, some pple are now out with a belief dat d song is aimed at praising d sea gods and dat christians shd be careful of d end time gimmicks of d devil. Well, I have nt researched into dat atall but such puzzles abound in our time. But can we use d different kinds of propositions in logic, some of which have considerable affinity to empirical and epistomological advances to justify some of d inferences of dos puzzles? Wonder shall never cease however. A woman, whose son lives in my neigborhood around GRA, Oju confessed recently on her own dat she is a Witch. She also confessed to have killed some of her children, inflicted untold economic hardship on some others. She said to my hearing dat so many frightening harvocs dat hath bedevilled her children and neighbours were her machinations in their realm. But d chief of all dat she did was what brought about d confession. She went further to reveal dat what has made her tummy to swell was nt actually any strange sickness for which d children had bn everywhere looking for traditional medication for but PREGNANCY. What ! The children wondered... How could a 71 year old woman be pregnant? We all asked. It was then she opened up. D pregnancy wasnt hers originally but she hijacked it spiritually frm a couple dat hath long been waiting for a fruit of d womb. God answered their prayer in January dis year against all odds with a conception but dos dat wudnt want them to have children, with d mother of my neighbour leading, plucked d pregnancy in April dis year and planted it in her own body while d pregnancy keeps growing. In d physical, d couple whose pregnancy hath dissappeared in April had their joy stolen away. Medical science could nt unravel what happened to d pregnancy as at then. What they knew then was d four months old pregnancy wasnt in place again. And It wasnt miscarriage either. They decided to move on belieVing dat God knows all. Five months later when d pregnancy had grown and due for delivery, d Witch woman tried and failed to return it to its original owner. Now, she is over seventy years and medically she cant go through labour to put to bed. What wud she do? D only option was to own up so dat help could come somehow. Today, 8th October, 2014, she is still at Adiyama Clinic, Oju. D baby has grown, matured and wants to come out but d woman is old, weak and cant put to bed but she doesnt want to die too.. She said, her superiors in d spirit took away d powers she may need to transplant d pregnancy back to d original owners. D original owners on their own are not keen in d process maybe bkos of d considerable long time d baby has spent in d kingdom of darkness. D woman left d other day weeping profusely after they came to hear frm d horses mouth how her four months old pregnancy developed wings and flew off in April dis year. Is there any part of Philosophy dat deals with dis kind of thing? Lets go to d classroom again pls.
