PERFECT HEART. A young man had come out to show people around how perfect his heart is. Everybody came to admire his perfect heart that had no scratch, scar, wounds and marks as he was so proud to show it out to the crowd. An old man came into the crowd and on seeing the excitement on the boy’s face, told him that his own heart was the most perfect. The boy laughed and asked the old man to show them his heart, as the old man did, the boy laughed the more because the old man’s heart was full of scar, wounds, scratches, then said the boy to him, “is this what you want to compare with mine?, see my heart has no wounds nor scar let alone marks; yours has all of it, mine is the most perfect heart. The boy called the crowd to judge between them who had a perfect heart. Then the old man said to him, “my heart was like yours, and I knew no joy, you see all these scars and wounds are parts of my heart that I cut out and shared with others, many of them did not reciprocate it, some that did, gave me parts that could not fit into where I cut out from, this is why you see all these scars and marks; but am glad that I shared my heart with my fellows. You do not know what it means to share your heart with anybody, how then do you think your heart is perfect?” As he was talking, the boy was shedding tears, then the old man cut part of his heart again, then cut out from the young boy, as he interchanged the flesh cut, the boy saw that his heart now has patches, scars and marks, as it could not fit in perfectly; but the boy was happy that he shared his heart with somebody
