PERSONAL PUBLIC PLEA!!! (Please read with kindness) My Friends, Colleagues, Group Leaders, Church Leaders (of any denomination) in my area, Neighbors....here in the U.S. specially around my area in Bonifay, Florida.... I CALL ON YOU TO HELP and SUPPORT ME ON A PERSONAL PROJECT! As most of you know, THE PHILIPPINES, my home country was just recently battered by the MOST POWERFUL TYPHOON EVER RECORDED ON EARTH (..they say even stronger than a Category 5 Hurricane in the US). As a result, there is now so much destruction and devastation back home. Not to mention, a few weeks ago, my country was also hit by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that already took more than a hundred lives and so much devastation to our important infrastructure and livelihood. According to recent reports, I have learned that, the International Red Cross already estimated about 1200 casualties already and so many injured with no homes to return to and hospitals are ruined. Other reports said, the storm surge hit these cities in every direction of up to 3 story building high flood and people cannot also run to higher grounds because winds of up to 190mph are also hitting them in every direction outside. Some described it as a Tsunami like phenomenon but the strong winds made it even worse. Local news are now saying there are a lot of dead bodies in the surroundings especially in the island of Leyte. Roads are impassable and all communications are down. These cities now are totally Isolated. Despite the magnitude of the calamity, by Gods mercy.. our loved ones, our family (especially my father back home who is still fighting Cancer as we speak), our friends and our neighbors lives were spared and are are safe now. And for that grace, I now feel obligated to find ways to help others. No matter what, we Filipinos are normally brave and are probably the most resilient people in the world (even according to other races). We always stand up, not complain, shake the dirt off and just try our best to rebuild. This is not our first time getting crushed. However, my people still need a lot of help to rise up again. This one is too big for them and for us to not help. A lot of them lost their homes and now do not have shelter, food, clean water, clothing and even important basic medicines....especially the children and the already sick. SO, I AM ASKING FOR YOUR KINDNESS... TO SUPPORT ME IN A COLLECTION DRIVE FOR.... USED CLOTHING, CANNED GOODS or any NON-PERISHABLE GOODS (THAT WILL LAST AND SURVIVE OVERSEAS SHIPMENT), and even USED TOYS FOR THE UNFORTUNATE KIDS. Send them to me...or...Collect them for me and I will collect them from you... so I can ship them home. I dont have a lot money to send just like a lot of us. What I have is the courage to start this. I cannot just sit comfortably in a cozy and dry place right now while I know my people are suffering back home. I know the right friends and the right people to send this to for fair distribution....this will be a big help for them specially that Christmas is coming and as you all know Christmas is a big deal in the Philippines.
