PERSONAL UPDATE from the CONGRESSMAN: As I type this, the border security bills are being finalized for presentation to the rules committee. There have been positive, productive discussions and meetings last night and this morning. The result is a more conservative, tightly worded package of constructive directives to the President and the executive branch on how to secure the border, humanely treat the children already here, and expedite review of any new arrivals with the goal of sending most very quickly back to their home country. Texas will be reimbursed for the costs of deploying the Texas National Guard. The cost of the bill, approximately $670 million, is fully offset and well below the Presidents request of $3.7 billion.
