*** PETITION & IMPORTANT INFO FOR ALL ToRS-STUDENTS *** Last week it was revealed that a major 6-8 months building-project is to be initiated in Week 42. This will heavily influence everybody on ToRS, especially in the exam period. A student meeting was arranged last week, following which Bastian Friborg, on behalf of the students, ‘ToRS Fælles Fagråd’, ‘ToRS Barudvalg’, and ‘HUMrådet’, formulated a letter of concerns to the Heads of Faculty. The letter ‘Kære dekanat’ is available in the FB-group ‘ToRS Fælles Fagråd’ (under ‘files’), but the main areas of concern voiced are: - The late notice, eliminating the possibility of reducing the degree of impact by planning ahead - General lack of communication and information - Negative effects on social and working environment (‘studiemiljøet’) - The temporary loss and permanent reduction of the students´ already insufficient kitchen facilities - Reduced contact between students and researchers - Reduced contact between students and the teaching staff - Noise related issues and their presumed negative effects on learning environment and physical health - Restricted usage of library and study areas (‘videnscenteret’), especially in the exam period - That this building-project clearly works against the Faculty´s 11-punkts plan and ‘fremdriftsreformen’ The letter further requests temporary solutions and expresses the student´s hopes that this unfortunate but inevitable situation may be turned into something positive. In addition to the letter itself, the Heads of Faculty will be handed a list of individual student ‘signatures’. In order to make a powerful statement it is important that all students sharing our concerns and hopes for the future show their consent by signing this petition.
