PFCF NEWS ALERT: Due to a gracious donation provided by dear compassionate hearts Maurie and Vivien, two of our Asian Music programs have made a first ever historic music exchange connection via Skype. It was my distinct pleasure to be present in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday, November 15th to help initiate the inauguration of a dramatic new level in music education for our deserving students. The Khlong Toey Music program in Thailand and the Musica Music Institute in Nepal have finally met eye to eye and shared their love of music and our PFCF Music programs via a large-screen real-time internet connection. Introductions with excited and sometimes astonished students and teachers of both programs were made, cultural differences cheerfully discovered and explored, and inspired heartfelt performances were enthusiastically shared back and forth. Was it technically perfect? No. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Was this an experience the participants will never forget? Absolutely! This is it - a bold new era has now begun with truly connecting our programs. The immediate impact of this first connection was profound. Not only for meeting each other face to face, note for note, heart to heart, but for the future prospects this amazing opportunity offers - the potential in curriculum enhancement as well as locale based fundraising within each host country are just a few. And to top it all off, the very popular TV Show CAFE GOOD NEWS of Thairath TV was on scene documenting this groundbreaking triumph for a future production release. It was a day to remember. A very special thanks to Khlong Toeys Gigi, Aom Amm and crew for getting all the technical aspects together in Thailand to pull this off, and of course to topflight Nepali Administrator Ishor Bajrachayra for technically making it all come to life in Nepal. Take my word on this… these challenging locations can be quite difficult to connect. We are deeply grateful that after all these years of dreaming of this moment, a new seed has indeed been planted. What does this all mean? We are just beginning to consider the amazing opportunities for learning and encouragement that can and will come from a sustained expansive effort of this sort. After the virtual handshakes were made, I simply took a step back and allowed the newly inspired program team members to discover and discuss their future potentials - teacher cultural exchanges, collective performances, and of course developing our program to ultimately offer any and all supporters to join in on these vital connections. Thanks to your support, inspiration is soaring. Stay tuned for more inspiration! Onward and upward, William Aura | Director of PFCF Asian Music Programs
