PFK Game Awards For This Past Weekend...The club went 3-1-3, including an undefeated six games on Sunday. Our overall club mark is 20-11-4 on the season. BU7 Predators (Beat Mineola Portuguese 6-1) Player of the Game: Matt Greenwald – Matt keeps up the scoring touch with a hat-trick Unsung Hero: Adam Menendez – Easily Adam’s best game of the year. Great hustle, good passing, nice footwork…real strong overall game. Goals: Matt Greenwald (3), Jack Belcher, Sean McElearney, Jonathan Tietz Assists: Sean McElearney, Alex Barberio, Eamon Bevan, Zach Henglein GU7 Panthers (Beat Port Washington 12-1…actually hurts to type that, don’t like running up score) Player of the Game: Elaina Buscemi – yes, the one player who didn’t score gets player of the game. Three assists, great defense and she actually took the most shots of anyone and the ball had a magnet to the goalie. But Elaina played a complete game offensively and defensively. It’s not always about the goals! Unsung Hero: Mallory Brenner – Tough to be the new girl? No problem. Mallory scored 3 goals in her first game with the Panthers, fitting right in. Goals: Jiavana Schweigert (3), Mallory Brenner (3), Lily Gormsen (2), Mia Napolitano (2), Michela Napolitano, Meghan Wetzel Assists: Elaina Buscemi (3), Meghan Wetzel, Lily Gormsen…sorry if I missed a few BU8 Piranhas (Tied Carle Place 2-2) Player of the Game: Jake Kelly – great goal and terrific energy all game Unsung Hero: Steven Sigalas – Beautiful, unselfish assist on Christian’s goal was a great TEAM-first play! Almost a third assist in the closing minutes, too! Goals: Ashley Felsberg, Emily Dvoskin Assists: Giuliana Arrigo (2) BU9 Power (Beat Northport 1-0) Player of the Game: Samir Gupte – Samir came back from injury a few games ago, and we saw the Samir we’re all used to this game. Strong, steady, good passing, smart decisions, kicking hard with confidence. Great job at both center mid and center d. Unsung Hero: Cavit Ireland – nice work in goal in the first half and terrific pressure at mid and striker in the second half Goal: Antonino Arrigo GU9 Wildcats (Lost to Mineola 2-1) Player of the game: Brooke Wunderlich- played amazing, huge improvement since season began Unsung hero: Megan Quinn- great defense, never gave up, getting better every game Goal: Devin Vezzuto GU10 Pride – (Tied SABA 1-1) Player of the Game – Lyla Buscemi – She’s played mid all year and been great, but with Emma Merro out we asked Lyla to move back to her old position of defense. She didn’t miss a beat, stopping several attacks, playing incredibly strong while supporting the offense, too. A terrific overall game! Unsung Hero – Lily diMonda – The best part of coaching is seeing development, and Lily’s worked hard and improved so much over the last year. Seeing her rewarded with a goal here was awesome and couldn’t be more deserved! Goal: Lily diMonda Assist: Antonietta Buffolino
