PFN CALLS FOR THREE DAYS OF FASTING AND PRAYERS FOR NIGERIA The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude has declared three days of all-round prayers and fasting for Nigeria, as the country prepares to celebrate 53 years as an independent entity in October. Following on a fruitful and rewarding National Executive Council meeting of the PFN held at its secretariat in Lagos, Rev. Dr. Omobude announced a programme of 3-day fasting and prayers from October 2nd to 4th, which will involve all churches and ministries under the aegis of the fellowship, as well as other Christians. The essence of this programme is to arrest the unprecedented siege on the nation and the wave of violence that has enveloped Nigeria in the last few years, which is now manifesting increasingly in the spate of kidnapping, disrespect for law and order and the erosion of values that had been held sacrosanct by Nigerian communities. The PFN calls on all Christians to rise up in prayers against the forces of evil and blood-letting that are instigating this wanton loss of lives and destruction in the country. An aggresive mobilisation drive across all churches and ministries is being embarked upon by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria to ensure that the programme enjoys the support and participation of all Christian leaders and the entire body of Christ in Nigeria. The key areas of focus for the 3-day prayer are : * Peace in the land and restoration of law and order in the country * The end of kidnapping, militancy and terrorism * The utter dissolution of all terrorist groups and enemies of the gospel * That the economy may grow and jobs be created for our teeming youth * An end to the protracted strike by ASUU. * Peaceful conduct of all campaigns and elections from now through 2015 and that strictly God’s choice of leaders shall emerge * Greater fear of God and righteousness in the land * Stronger unity and cohesion in the Body of Christ * That despite Satan’s worst devices, Nigeria and her Church shall amaze the world, and His glory shall cover Nigeria as the waters cover the sea The PFN President, Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude encourages Christian leaders and congregations to also raise specific prayer points around the guidelines stated, as they are led by the Holy Spirit. He enjoins churches to sustain the culture of prayers for Nigeria, even beyond the designated three days, such that prayer for the nation becomes an integral part of church programmes. Also at this 3rd quarter NEC meeting, the PFN inaugurated the Emergency Response & Intervention Directorate under the Chairmanship of Evangelist Matthew Owojaiye to manage the affairs of the Emergency Response and Intervention fund which was recently set up to administer to the needs of victims of man-made and natural disaters, especially Christians and Christian leaders. The fund will start with catering for the needs of the victims of the recent Boko haram attacks in the country. Simbo Olorunfemi Director, Media and Public Relations
