For perspective lets start with the price of the dollar, which was K4.60 when you took over from MMD and now it is K6.40, which represents a 39% depreciation in the local currency. When it comes to prices of essential commodities in dollar terms, price of mealie meal was $7.17 in 2011 and is now $13.28 representing an 85% increase. The price if cement was $8.26 and is now $11.72 representing a 42% increase. The price of petrol was $1.46 and is now $1.56, representing a 7% increase. Now if we take into account the increase in interest rates and the erosion of purchasing power, Zambians are worse of under PF than they were under MMD. Statistics dont lie. PF have failed to manage the economy and that is why we now need an economic manager in Hakainde Hichilema.
