#PG&E Says U.S. Attorney Investigating E-Mails With Regulators - PG&E Corp. (PCG:US) said the U.S. government is investigating e-mails in which the owner of California’s largest utility asks state regulators to change a judge assigned to a rate case. “PG&E has been notified by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Francisco that it has begun an investigation in connection with these ex parte communications, with which the company will cooperate,” the San Francisco-based company said in a statement today. PG&E also said its review of more than 65,000 e-mails with the California Public Utilities Commission found more evidence it may have violated rules on communicating directly with regulators. Commission President Michael Peevey announced last month that he’ll recuse himself from penalty proceedings for PG&E’s deadly 2010 natural gas #pipeline explosion because of “inappropriate e-mail exchanges” with the company. Officials from the city of San Bruno, #California -- the site of the blast -- have said the commission is too cozy with the company.
