PGR FAMILY: I received a voice mail today that does not belong - TopicsExpress

PGR FAMILY: I received a voice mail today that does not belong solely to me, but to every person who recently rode the Sneads KIA/MIA escort. The elder family member who submitted the DNA and enabled Hero SSGT Gerald Atkinson to be identified requested a genuine flag held by the PGR flag line that day. A few brothers got together and ordered a new replacement flag for our inventory, folded a flag used at the mission flag line, and mailed the flag in an appropriate mailing container. Before I return this call I would like to share his words with you. RC, MD Vause. ********************************************* Sir, this is Charles Johnson. Thank you for the flag, it came yesterday. I’m going to get a frame for it and put your letter in it. I really appreciate this. It means the world to me and I hope to talk to you later and tell you how much we appreciate all of you. God Bless You and all you’ve done for us. Thank you. I will never forget the kindness and assistance you gave me in helping me get to the burial site and safely to my wheel chair. I was present with the family when we received word by telegraph during WWII that Gerald was missing. I have flown a flag at half mast at my home from the time we got word that Gerald may have been found until the time of the funeral. I can not thank you enough for making this day easier for our family. If I live long enough and you and your group is ever in my neighborhood, you have friends here to welcome you. I feel so blessed that I was able to live to see Gerald come home. God bless you all.
