PH CONSUL GENERAL CALLS ON CHICAGO MAYOR RAHM EMANUEL Consul General Generoso D.G. Calonge made a courtesy call on Mr. Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of the City of Chicago, at the latter’s City Hall office on Thursday, 29 September 2014. Mr. Emanuel has served as Chicago’s 55th mayor since being elected to the post in 2011. Prior to that, he served as the White House Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama and served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Chicago’s 5th District. He was also a key member of the Clinton Administration from 1993 to 1998. Consul General Calonge arrived in Chicago on 08 July 2014 from Tel Aviv, where he served as the Philippine Ambassador to Israel for three years. The two officials discussed the profile of the Filipino American community in Chicago and the Midwest, and expressed hopes for closer cooperation between the Consulate and the City of Chicago.
