PHIL JONES RULED OUT FOR UP TO A MONTH Manchester United defender Phil Jones has been ruled out for up to a month with a torn hamstring, manager Louis van Gaal has revealed. Jones hobbled off in the second half of Englands 2-0 win in Switzerland on Monday and he is now likely to be unavailable for a number of weeks. Phil has a torn hamstring, Van Gaal said. He is maybe out for three weeks or a month. If Jones is out for a month he will miss Uniteds next four games and his place in the England squad for Octobers double-header against San Marino and Estonia would also be in doubt. It is an injury blow that the winless United boss could do without, particularly when his team have looked so vulnerable defensively in their opening three league matches. Van Gaal, speaking at a press conference at the Aon Training Complex in Carrington, said nine of his players are unavailable for Sundays game against QPR through injury. Chris Smalling, James Wilson, Sam Johnstone, Reece James, Jones and Jesse Lingard are out. Marouane Fellainis ankle injury will keep him out for longer than a month, according to Van Gaal. Ashley Young suffered a groin strain, but the good news for Van Gaal is that Michael Carrick has returned to light training following an ankle injury he suffered in pre-season. Luke Shaw is also back in training and could make his debut on Sunday, along with recent signings Radamel Falcao, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo.
