PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR TO MYANMAR CALLS ON MAYOR OF YANGON 06 September 2013 - Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua called on the Mayor of Yangon U Hla Myint on September 03 at the Yangon City Hall. Ambassador Chua expressed his gratitude to U Hla Myint for the support and cooperation the City of Yangon has extended to the Philippine Embassy, Philippine businesses and the Filipino community in the city. Ambassador Chua mentioned the Embassy’s eagerness to work with the Mayor in strengthening the people-to-people relations between the Philippines and Myanmar particularly with Yangon. He also commended the Mayor and his officials for their efforts and hard work in ensuring the positive transformation of Yangon at a time of Myanmar’s political and economic transition. The Mayor thanked Ambassador Chua for calling on him and reassured the latter of his support to Embassy and the Filipino Community in Yangon. Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar with a population of six million people, is the country’s biggest commercial capital and main gateway of Myanmar.
