PHILS CHORTLING ARCHIVE (9) - NATIONAL LAMPOON -- DETERIORATA Ive always found National Lampoon a little patchy, possibly because whats topical in the US doesnt always translate to the UK, but when theyre good theyre really good. The 3 albums I have - Radio Dinner, Lemmings and Goodbye Pop are pretty merciless with their targets, and thats their charm, which was successfully transferred to films, starting with Animal House. These particular albums pre-dated their Radio Hour shows, and the whole project kicked off with a magazine. Confused? Good. Some of the better known contributors include Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Bill Murray and Gilder Radner, but there were many others; and which track to choose?
