PHL CONSULATE GENERAL IN CHICAGO CONDUCTS CONSULAR OUTREACH IN IOWA 23 October 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago successfully conducted its consular outreach activity in Des Moines, Iowa last October 4. The Consular Outreach team was composed of Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela III, Mr. Alvar Rosales, Ms. Edita del Mundo-Nano, Mr. Cornelio Santiago, Mr. Sheridan Sabeniano, Mr. Anton Ocampo, and Ms. Rachel Bumanglag. The outreach was conducted at Des Moines University’s Olsen Center located at 3200 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312. The Consular Outreach team was able to process a total of 78 passport applications, 22 citizenship reacquisition petitions, 8 documents, 4 reports of birth and 4 reports of marriage. The team was also able to enroll 65 new registrants for Overseas Voting. The consular team was assisted by the National Federation of Filipino American Associations – Iowa Chapter in the one-day activity. The Filipinos who availed themselves of the activity extended their gratitude to the Consulate General for conducting the consular outreach, stating that it saved them time and money. They also indicated that it was a big help especially to the older Filipino applicants and those from the surrounding states who would find it difficult to travel all the way to Chicago. There are around 6,000 Filipinos living in Iowa. END
