PHO: Build up good resistance against disease By Lorenzo O. Lambatin Jr. NEGROS OCC., March 13 (PIA6)—The Provincial Health Office here is urging citizens to build good resistance to ward-off diseases that come with cold and warm weather. To attain this, citizens are advised to get proper nutrition by eating more fruits and vegetables and less of meat along with exercise and taking of vitamins. With summer heat slowly creeping in, maladies like cough, pharyngitis and bronchitis will be on the rise as temperatures shift at varying levels of heat and cold at any time of the day. Extreme weather could also trigger asthma. The PHO also said heat stroke will also be common among the elders because they have weaker resistance due to advancing age. The office advises everyone to drink not less than eight glasses of water a day and avoid crowded places to prevent catching of virus. It is also observed that rabies cases shoot up during summer because children are mostly free to play outside. They become easy victims of dog bites as parents are warned to keep watch of their children. (lljr-PIA6).
