Akazi Kanoze has been implemented over the past 5 years and is expanding through 2 projects: Akazi Kanoze and Akazi Kanoze 2. The projects are implemented by EDC and funded by USAID and MasterCard Foundation respectively. Summary: The AK2 Project Coordinator works under the supervision of the AK2 Project Manager to ensure the quality of the content and delivery of the overall AK2 program, including Work readiness Curriculum and School Transition to Work components within the Rwanda Education Board (REB) and the Workforce Development Authority (WDA); monitoring the technical performance of the Master Trainers and IP Trainers; liaise and monitor activities of the Implementing Partners at provincial and district level. She/he will have experience with youth and/or education program, especially with secondary and/or TVET education. This position reports to the AK2 Project Manager. This position is located in Kigali. Essential functions include [but are not limited to]: • Liaise on a day-to-day basis with REB and WDA technical teams; • Coordinate the Master Trainers and AK2 implementing partners (IPs); • Conduct activity monitoring, follow-up, and reporting for technical work related to training implementation; • Compile progress reports for AK2 programming, including reports from IPs and project’s team; • Reports on IPs progress; • Work closely with Ministry of Education, especially the Workforce Development Authority in the inclusion of the WRC and STWT into the TVET system and the Rwanda Education Board in the inclusion of same services into the upper secondary education system; • Coordinate the roll out of the WRC and STWT trainings within the TVET and Upper Secondary Education systems; • Monitor results in STWT of Implementing Partners and provide support as necessary; • Participate in the selection of trainers with local implementing partners; • Plays the role of Master Trainer when necessary; • Conduct regular field monitoring visits with IPs to ensure program quality delivery. As lead implementer of the AK2 project, EDC hosts the secretariat of the Youth Employability Working Group (YEWG) around issues related to youth workforce development in Rwanda. The Working Group will be open to all organizations interested in contributing to the issue of youth employability — government agencies, NGOs, private sector firms, business associations, civil society organizations, and donor agencies. The YEWG Coordinator reports to the Chief of Party (COP). The YEWG Coordinator is a full time position based in Kigali. EDC is seeking a dynamic, innovative, motivated and youth oriented individual to coordinate the day to day operations of the working group to ensure long and short term goals are achieved. This individual should bring creative solutions to balancing high level strategic objectives with relevant and pragmatic youth centered outcomes. A solid understanding of labor markets (supply and demand) and youth integration in the workforce is essential. Essential functions include [but are not limited to]: • Assist in defining YEWG both short and long term goals and objectives • Assist in developing strategies to meet YEWG objectives • Develop and implement a recruitment strategy for new membership and or casual contributing members • Develop and recruit and lead a youth advisory committee • Develop and maintain the membership list of the YEWG. • Develop and implement a communication strategy for the YEWG. Creating relevant communication pieces for the YEWG, including success stories, online communication platform, brochures, facebook page, etc. • Liaise with the Government of Rwanda NEP (National Employment Program) secretariat • Liaise with representatives from Ministries involved in Youth Employment activities and policy • Identify and share information: Information could include a listing of recent, current and planned youth livelihood development initiatives in Rwanda, or relevant studies, opportunities or news related to youth employability in Rwanda. • Facilitate collaboration among members, including organization of sessions in which members strategize about ways to leverage one another’s activities and investments to create synergy and greater impact. • Organize youth employability awareness raising activities directed at the public. • Participate in various activities of the AK2 project, as necessary. Summary: The Job Placement and SMS System Coordinator manage the Akazi kanoze SMS system, especially the job match system. S/he is responsible to link with private companies who could benefit from the service, populate the SMS system and ensure that companies and graduates are able to use the system. S/he is responsible for coordinating project efforts to assess labor market demand and engage private sector organizations in project activities. S/he will help the AK Project Team Leader in identifying and implementing new Public/Private Partnerships (PPPs). S/he reports to the AK Project Team Leader. This position is located in: Kigali. Essential functions include [but are not limited to]: • Responsible for coordinating project efforts to assess labor market demand and engage private sector organizations in project activities • Supports and assists local partners’ efforts to identify internships and work placements for program graduates • Identify and reach out to private companies with human resources needs matching AK graduates skills • Encourage and train private companies in using AK SMS Job Match system • Work closely with AK Alumni Coordinator and Transition Field officers to identify potential employers and train AK graduates on SMS system use • Systematically organize and oversee SMS training to AKAZI KANOZE youth and employers • Provide regular feedback and updates on SMS and other ICT systems and work with Souktel and/or other consultants in troubleshooting the systems whenever necessary • Maintain job postings and announcements through the SMS system and other communication outlets • Coaches implementing partner on how to work better with businesses • Sets up and coordinates a systematic way to communicate private sector training needs for specific businesses to the AK implementing partners • Works closely with the AK Project Team Leader in coordinating a private sector advisory group for the project • Participate in team’s workplan and strategy development. This position reports to the AK Project Team Leader. This position is located in: Kigali. Essential functions include [but are not limited to]: • Monitor and evaluate systems that measures the effectiveness of project initiatives; • Test procedures for assessing instructional quality; • Collect data and updates reports; • Conduct research; • Conduct evaluation activities relative to the project initiatives; • Maintain project database; • Coordinates Implementing Partners M&E staff; • Coordinates roll-out of Project Database to all Implementing Partners and schools; • Verify that data entered in project’s database are correct; • Generate data reports in compliance with project’s procedures and agreements in the award; • Ensures accuracy of all data collection; • Participate in other team work as required. Summary: the incumbent serves as the EDC driver responsible for the safe transport of EDC staff and ensuring the vehicles are properly maintained and kept in good repair. Driver reports on the state of the vehicle to supervisor and takes all the necessary dispositions. This position reports to Logistics and Procurement Officer. The position is located in Kigali. Essential functions include (but are not limited to): • Transport EDC staff and visitors; • Demonstrate ability to maintain composure and work effectively in fast paced environment; • Perform daily inspection of vehicle; alert supervisor to possible tampering of vehicle; • Inspect vehicle for defects and makes minor repairs as required; • Maintain vehicles in serviceable condition and performs minor preventive maintenance daily; • Update on daily basis the vehicle logbook; • Assure that vehicles are equipped with the proper equipment; • Assure accidents are reported to supervisor and investigation forms are completed; • Record gasoline consumption; • Distribute mails as requested; • Perform any other task as required by the supervisor. Qualifications and Requirements: • Some Secondary Education or Vocational Training required; • 5 years driving experience preferably with a NGO; • Flawless driving record; • Current driving license; • Knowledge of local traffic laws; • Good English communication skills.
