PHONE SERVICE OUT AROUND MIRROR AND ALIX TELUS is working to restore land line phone service to about 860 customers in Alix and Mirror. Customers were left without service around noon today after a cable was damaged by a construction crew doing work unrelated to TELUS on the east side of Red Deer around 20th Avenue near 39th Street. During construction activity, a backhoe bucket fell onto and severed TELUS cables. Customers impacted are unable to make or receive local, long distance calls or call 911. Wireless service and Internet service in the areas of Stettler, Alliance, Oyen, Castor, Hanna, Coronation, Alsask, and Halkirk may also be impacted. TELUS technicians are on the scene and working to restore service as soon as possible. Due to the severity of the damage TELUS expects service to be restored later tonight. TELUS thanks its customers for their understanding and will provide an update when the repair is complete.
