PHOTO | Makati police round up 100 guards after Burgundy Towers shooting MANILA, Philippines - (UPDATE 11PM) Police rounded up about a hundred security guards Thursday night after a shootout between the rival security forces of the old and new building management teams at Burgundy Towers in Makati City ended with one dead. The guards were hauled off in police vans as SWAT teams from the Makati City Police scoured the building, which hosts several call centers and business offices, in search of other people who may have been involved in the shootout. The melee began as a court sheriff was about to serve a TRO on one camp of the rival management firms shortly before 5 pm. The sheriff was accompanied by several guards from Psychic security agency. The team was trying to serve the TRO when shots rang out, and one guard, later identified as one Jimmy Lagunsad, lay dead. Police continued to remain outside the Burgundy Tower building on Gil Puyat Ave., in Makati, as indicated by the photo contributed to InterAksyon by a resident in a nearby condominium. The encounter between the rival security forces happened at the back of the building, facing Urban Ave. A woman who lived nearby earlier told InterAksyon she first heard two successive gunshots, as she got home from work at around five to five-thirty in the afternoon. After hearing two shots, she first thought they were the sound of something heavy falling. =chen=
