PHOTO OF THE DAY: Okay, many of you seemed to enjoyed the pictures of the wedding bride cake I posted on Monday. Well, today you get to see the wedding cake. The bride, her Mom, and the florist, Gene came to the shop to plan the cake. Gene had borrowed a beautiful Waterford crystal vase knowing that the clients wanted as tall of a cake as they could get for this wedding. We talked, planned, built, tore down, and built again a model of the cake out of styrofoam. Finally we came up with a design and plan for the cake. Many hours were spent planning how to support, set up, and keep the tiers in place. The final piece of the puzzle did not come to me until Friday morning! The cake was on a 3 foot table and the cake was 4 1/2 feet tall. So the top tier was 7 1/2 feet in the air. The second photo shows my husband, Mike, coming down the ladder after the top three tiers had been placed on the cake. Gene, the florist was beginning to set the flowers in place. Both these men are over six feet tall! This gives you an idea of the size of the cake! The wedding guests were holding their breath as the catering staff worked to take the top tiers down. The guests gave them a round of applause when the task was accomplished! Stay tuned because we have an even taller cake in two weeks!
