PHOTOS OF THE DAY: Hanging backstage @ The Symphony Center last night with Chicagos own Jack DeJohnette. Mr. DeJohnette was in town to perform with pianist Keith Jarrett and bassist Gary Peacock. The trio played two incredible sets that included highly inventive arrangements of Fever, My Funny Valentine, On Green Dolphin Street and Django to name but a few of the more than a dozen pieces they performed. Combined, Messrs. DeJohnette, Jarrett, and Peacock have roughly 200 years of playing experience which they beautifully utilized to captivate and entertain the audience for over two hours. Deservingly so, the trio received several standing ovations throughout the night. Vics was proud to supply the gear for Mr. DeJohnette. About Jack DeJohnette: Jack DeJohnette is a drummer, pianist, composer, and bandleader and one of the most influential jazz and fusion drummers of our time. In a career that spans five decades, Mr. DeJohnette has collaborated with some of the most iconic figures in modern jazz that include Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Keith Jarrett, Sonny Rollins, Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Stan Getz, Gary Peacock, Larry Goldings, John Coltrane, John Ambercrombie and John Scofield. Earlier this year, Jack DeJohnette was voted one of The 50 Greatest Drummers of All Time by the readers of Modern Drummer Magazine. Truly one of the all-time greats!
