PHYSICAL ADDICTION-is characterized as the bodily cravings of certain substance(s) or activity which chemically gratifies our bodies. For example, the physical aspect of drug addiction is the compulsive use of desired substances. The inability to stop using once started leaves the user powerless and unable to rationally process sane thought and subsequent actions. The physical changes that our bodies undergo as a result of frequent involvement in other matters of sin gradually alters us to the point whereas we cease to functioning in a socially acceptable way. We all need time to rejuvenate ourselves physically in order to maintain our daily routines. Sleep and rest are very essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle that is conducive to honoring our righteous God! “ Unemployability, dereliction and destruction are easily seen as characteristics of an unmanageable lif. Our families generally are disappointed, baffled and confused by our actions and often desert or disown us. Becoming employed, socially acceptable and reunited with our families does not make our lives manageable. Social acceptability does not equal recovery.” as quoted from p 21 of the Narcotics Anonymous Book We must tie our newness in mental outlook to our change in physical routine which both should be guided by our spiritual awareness of WHO is the center of our lives-JESUS CHRIST! “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. “JESUS CHRIST is the person of whom and through whom we must seek (from a substance abuse angle as a Higher Power) but from a religious perspective as the head of our spiritual being! “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
