PIA-CAR/KALINGA: DA is providing crop insurance to rice farmers in Kalinga as part of its farm interventions under Rice Enhancement Program, this year. Under said scheme, every P10,000 crop coverage, a premium of P1,231 is charged but govt subsidizes P1,000 & the remaining P231 is paid by the farmer. Provl Agriculturist Domingo Bakilan said the program helps farmers recover from losses caused by calamities, especially typhoons that affect millions in crop damages every year in Kalinga.
