PIA-NCR: The Quezon City (QC) government warned barangay officials who will allow informal settlers to build new colonies within their jurisdiction especially in areas along the waterways.The QC government said that it will prosecute officials who will fail to curtail the proliferation and further increase of informal settlements in their respective areas. The local government units were given the teeth to discipline, suspend, and remove such officials by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under Memorandum Circular MC-2011-017. This is to prevent families from being endangered from flood-causing mudslides and collapsing structures especially during the rainy season.
