PICK EM THURSDAY Football bores me now, for the very first time in my life. First LSUs so-called offense slept walked through what I will forever recall as the Most Agonizing Game ever last week when they played zombies to Arkansas Twilight, in the second-worst effort ever under Les Miles. Then, the next day, I planned my Sunday morning around the Saints because they were actually on par to create some divisional separation and rebound from the previous weeks OT loss at home in the Dome to the previously left-for-dead 49ers. Thought was, in my ignorance, Id watch a solid game and a Saints W over the Bengals led by LSUS Jeremy Hill - who, by the way, the Tigers have sorely missed this season. Leonard Fournette is going to be great -probably as early as Thursday night against A & M, but hes no Jeremy Hill - not yet. Hill would have gone way over 1,000 yards this year had he stayed at LSU. He may have even won the Heisman. He would have at least scored once against the Hogs. So, in a round-about but still fairly direct way, Hill was responsible for my depression heading into Sundays game. Of course, you all know what happened next. Hill runs roughshod over the Saints milk toast defense for 150-plus, makes a strong case for NFL Rookie of the Year consideration - but not really because he was arrested twice once in another life and NFL stars never get in trouble with the law - and then, talk about zombies coming to life, Cincy QB Andy Dalton, coming off of a game where he had statistically the worst-ever QB Rating in the history of the Stat (a 2), transforms into a huge rat and nibbles NOs Swiss Cheese excuse for a defensive into digested fecal matter. Meanwhile, the Saints high-powered offense spends the day doing its best LSU Tiger impression. Result: Football is bad for your emotional health. Especially mine! No picks this week as a result. Im going to take up ball room dancing and wine - tasting instead. Drunken Crooning Beats Pigskin FOR me, at least this weekend.
