PIIN’s Job & Economy Task Force will now include low-wage worker - TopicsExpress

PIIN’s Job & Economy Task Force will now include low-wage worker struggles and other worker issues, in addition to their work on the Clean Rivers Campaign. This was the decision made at PIIN’s April Congregational Leadership Assembly. PIIN’s prominent role in the actions against UPMC in its treatment of service workers has resulted in extensive positive attention for PIIN and they want to continue their involvement in this and similar campaigns. They also want to make sure that PIIN positions itself as a powerful presence in rebuilding Pittsburghs middle class. Do you think … - Workers with full-time jobs should be able to support their families without relying on food stamps and other government assistance? - Getting outside the walls of our faith communities and demonstrating our belief that we should Love Our Neighbors is exciting? - Stopping the flooding and beautifying our neighborhoods with trees and parks would build a better region, especially if it meant more living wage jobs for local workers? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions or want to participate in planning or participating in jobs actions, please join them: Jobs & the Economy Task Force Meeting Tuesday, April 29 7:00-8:30 PM 1st Unitarian Church 605 Morewood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 If you are unable to attend, but want to be involved with PIIN’s jobs focus please call PIIN’s office at 412-621-9230 or email [email protected]
