PITCHFORKS FOR SALE If this guy’s as canny as he says, he’ll invest in warehousefulls of Pitchforks. However if he’s serious, then he presents the best argument for the rejuvenation of Capitalism and its longevity well into the foreseeable future. The statistics he presents, meaning to confound with their sheer magnitude, are a little bit hackneyed by now, but the overall argument in favour of greater income equality touches upon the current travails of nearly all Western societies, not just the US (since these things seem to move up and down as if orchestrated by some mysterious force!). It is no accident that the Yacht building industry (along with other luxury goods) has thrived during the GFC! Unfortunately, in fiscally strained economic environments, the old entrepreneurial reflex of hedging for personal gain is further exacerbated, so that the arguments presented here, in spite of their soundness, are not likely to even make a dent on the “greed is good” mentality, which he says, is also compounded by stupidity. Amen. Noteworthy is the fact of their coming from a highly successful entrepreneur, which also makes the article sound strangely honest.
