#PKDebate: So it is about #religion? Fine. Let us ask ourselves some questions then. First to all non Hindu groups advocating PK The Film & calling it freedom of expression: Where was this freedom of expression or liberal approach when a tiny cartoon was made? Or when Vishwaroopam was forced to delete 4 mins of reel as it allegedly hurt some sentiments of a particular religion and also when it was banned in few states? You didnt mind that at all? So it sounds nothing strange to you that Vishwaroopam gets banned & PK goes tax-free in UP? And it sounds nothing strange to preach people about quitting offering milk to Shiva (& feed kids instead) but keep slaughtering goats (who give milk) in name of religion? And now to all Hindu groups opposing the film: So #PK offends #Hindu religion? Where was this protest when #OMG released? So Paresh Rawal & Akshay Kumar did not offend Hindu religion but Aamir Khan does? What is the difference other than Aamir being a #Muslim and Paresh not? Lord Krishna (himself, as per script) in #OMG can ride a bike and be a dude, but an artist disguised as Shiva cannot run for life in PK? Grow up! People should be proud to be from a religion that has enough tolerance to allow movies like OMG & PK. Hinduism isnt so weak to be offended or eliminated by a 3 hours reel showing whatever they want to. At a time when Pakistani audience and the likes of Tasleema Nasreen are applauding our courage to allow movies like PK, by vandalizing cinemas showcasing PK, you are only displaying a Talibani mindset. You are no different from those you criticize. Yes the movie has some objectionable dialogues - Jo darr gaya woh mandir gaya. & yes, Aamir pelted stones in Mecca as a Muslim ritual. But so what? Thats his own personal life. How does it affect any one of us? Would Hindus go to temple in any less numbers after this dialogue from PK? You know the answer. And you also know that people go to temples primarily because of faith & not fear. So how will a dialogue affect the religion? Yes, everyone has a right to protest in a democracy. So let people do that. But VHP & Bajrang Dals going violent over the issue is exceptionally shameful. India has a so called pro-Hindu govt. And the same Govt controls censor board of India. Why cant the VHPs & RSSs of the world can plead Narendra Modi to intervene? But they wont. Because that wont get them the media attention. And there are people like CM of UP who would make it tax free, making issue flaring up further. Also, isnt it strange that now everyone would criticize Akhilesh Yadav for making it tax free but no one questions Modi government who controls Censor Board of India that okayed the content? So much of hypocrisy? Which side you want to be at? Radical groups (either religion) or a tolerant, open minded, liberal Indian audience? Decide yourself! Comments welcome. And PLEASE do share the post to spread some wisdom and end this non sense.
