PLATEAU, 2015 AND THE BURDEN OF MORALITY Electioneering for 2015 is just around the corner and the Intricacies of politics is been played out very well. I am happy that with the discuss within our dear state, it is generally issue based and devoured of BITTERNESS, RANCOUR and MALIGNING of character. The use of the power of technology is been maximized- wherein the social media is been used as a medium for the electorates and the candidates to champion their course of reason. At the moment, there are agitations that the ZONING system be maintained. The proponents of zoning believe that if maintained, it would not only stabilize the polity, but it would also be the base for peace in a heterogeneous state like Plateau. The main points been used are: FAIRNESS, JUSTICE and EQUITY. Those opposed to zoning have thrown in CREDIBILITY as the basis for advancing their course. Today I would like to throw in a virtue that I think is inherently and a must have for the next governor of Plateau state. PROBITY and ACCOUNTABILITY invariably I am talking about INTEGRITY both MORAL and FINANCIAL is a MUST have quality for the next governor of the state. The indices used to measure integrity may vary from person to person, but I one thing remains a constant in every definition and that’s the ability to live above board when the chips are down. One case that easily crosses my mind is that of the present deputy governor of Plateau state. In 2007, Amb. I. Longjan was the then financial secretary of the PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) the office is saddled with so much responsibility which entails but not limited to handling cash. Not only did he dutifully and diligently executed the task assign that position he exemplified a virtue so rare I dare say 1 in a million. Having been trusted, he was then mobilized to ensure that Quan-Pan his native LGC voted for the party In 2007 general elections a task he pragmatically carried out not only did it end there it is on record that he RETURN UNUSED CAMPAIGN FUNDS back to the campaign office of the PDP ( a sum running into million mark). A politician returning unspent funds for campaigns for which no one can hold him accountable for, in the present day Nigeria!!!! No THIS IS THE HALLMARK OF INTEGRITY, a rare virtue Plateau needs to definitely tap. #theloyaldeputy
