PLATFORM Sun. June 15, 11am Ethical Culture Society of Northern Westchester “Wisdom-Making: A Spiritual Job Description for Elders” Rev. Dr. Carole Johanssen The Rev. Dr. Carole Johannsen, BCC is an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of New York, and a board certified healthcare chaplain serving as Coordinator of Pastoral Care at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow. She is a graduate of Western CT State University (BA in English/Journalism, summa cum laude), Yale Divinity School (Master of Divinity), and New York Theological Seminary where she earned her Doctor of Ministry in 2013. Her doctoral studies focused on spirituality and aging; specifically: the unique spiritual (not religious) gifts and needs of people 70 and older. Since receiving her doctorate, she has led several workshops on this subject, both locally and out-of-state. In addition to pastoral/spiritual work, Chaplain Johannsen has been involved since 1982 in interfaith conversations, primarily Christian-Jewish but in recent years, including Muslims, as well. In private life, she is the mother of two married children and five magnificent grandchildren. When time permits, she sings alto with the Danbury Concert Chorus.
