PLATO and ARISTOTLE: When I first started to post on FB I posted what I called the Quote of the Day. Two of my quotes, really explain what I was trying to accomplish: “History is the Window to all what Humans have accomplished and History is the window to what Humans need to accomplish” “History is amazing because if we have been listening, we can adjust and make this world a better place, so far, we should be grounded for not doing our homework. Quotes from Plato and Aristotle: Ancient Greek Visionary Historians starting about 428 BC “Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.” Plato The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future in life. Plato “Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.” Plato This has not changed over the thousands of years man has been around. Democracy... is a charming form of government, full of variety and disorder; and dispensing a sort of equality to equals and unequals alike. Plato The hope that all can take part in the governing of our society no matter rich or poor. We are losing this battle. When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty, and there is nothing more to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader. Plato This fits so well with Conservatives who want “war, war, war” and they want you to live in fear. The most perfect political community is one in which the middle class is in control, and outnumbers both of the other classes. Aristotle America had this and we are now losing this battle as rich Conservatives push to control us all If liberty and equality, as is thought by some, are chiefly to be found in democracy, they will be best attained when all persons alike share in government to the utmost. Aristotle “In a democracy the poor will have more power than the rich, because there are more of them, and the will of the majority is supreme.” Aristotle Again we see even back then they knew all people must be involved or all is lost. Democracy arises out of the notion that those who are equal in any respect are equal in all respects; because men are equally free, they claim to be absolutely equal. Aristotle We had this in America and right now Conservative politics are attacking this at a state level. We make war that we may live in peace. Aristotle This has been mans history and how sad it is. It is Homer who has chiefly taught other poets the art of telling lies skillfully.
