PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS If you live in the Hills Shire Council. Rabbit Baiting Program To Get Underway Council’s Rabbit Baiting program is scheduled to get underway on Monday January 27, which will result in the closure of several parks and reserves throughout The Hills. Residents are advised that the parks and reserves listed below will be closed from 4pm through until 8am the following morning from January 27. The baiting will only occur over two nights, however Council’s Bushcare team have advised that bad weather could result in the baiting program being postponed. The bait used is called Pindone, which is lethal to dogs and cats. All parks that are baited will be signposted during the baiting program. Once the baiting program is completed, the signs will be removed. Pindone baiting is necessary to reduce numbers of the European Rabbit which has a major negative impact on native plants and animals including some threatened species. Rabbits also cause significant damage to sports playing fields and other grassed areas. Parks and reserves closed for Pindone baiting: Fred Caterson Reserve, Castle Hill Eric Mobbs Reserve, Castle Hill Castle Hill Heritage Park, Castle Hill Les Shore Reserve, Glenorie Bella Vista Farm Park, Bella Vista Hill Road Reserve, West Pennant Hills Cockayne Reserve, Castle Hill Holland Reserve, Glenhaven Cemetery, Castle Hill Thanks Tabitha Hunt for letting us know
