This is our recommended message: Dear Honorable Member of the Wauwatosa Common Council, I am contacting you to voice my support for preserving and restoring all of the Eschweiler buildings on the Milwaukee County grounds. For that reason I ask that you vote to support tax incremental financing for the Mandel Group project that includes the adaptive reuse of the buildings for the Forest Exploration Center laboratory school. I support the TIF as the best opportunity to ensure the welfare and future of the four Eschweiler buildings. The $2.5 million will be repaid in the taxes collected from the development and the benefit to Wauwatosa tax payers is that the Mandel Group residential development will ultimately increase the City of Wauwatosa tax base. Because these nationally designated historic buildings hold a significant place in our community’s history I ask in addition that after approval of the TIF the Common Council continue its efforts to support the adaptive reuse of all four buildings whether by the FEC or an alternative organization and project.
