PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN FOR ONE OF OUR COMMUNITY. HERE is what happened and what you can do to help! Dear Friends, Family and BRAT fans, I wanted to take the time to wish you all a happy & healthy new year. I know last year was a difficult one for many people, myself included. I have been homeless since December 17!! My good friends, Richie Fontana from Piper and Lydia Criss have convinced me that I should expose to all of you the misfortunes that have recently taken place in my life. I lost my day job in September. I struggled to pay my bills and feed my cats. But on December 17, without warning, I was evicted from my apartment and put on the street with only the clothes on my back. Everything in my apartment was confiscated by the Marshall and my cats were sealed in the apartment for 3 days. I slept in my car for those days until I could see a judge in landlord/tenant court. The verdict was that once you are evicted there is no change. I was allowed in to get my cats. Even though I had the rent money, someone had stolen my eviction notice (my landlord). My old friend, Rick Rivets, came to my aid and gave my cats and I a temporary place to stay. I cant begin to express in words my feelings about this act of kindness. So many of my close friends have mobilized to lend a hand, especially my closest friend, Georgeanne OKeefe, who has gone above and beyond with her endless support. I have been searching for a pet friendly apartment in the Flushing/Bayside/Whitestone area of Queens, where I have lived for 40 years, without any success at this time of year. It has been difficult to be able to just feed my cats and put gas in my car. So I am appealing to you for help. This is certainly not something I wanted the world to know. But I am desperate and dont know where else to turn to but my friends....all of you. I need help to crawl out of this darkness. I could never pay you back, but when I get back on my feet, I would pay it forward. Many of you know that my whole life has been devoted to the welfare of animals. I feed strays and do rescue, fostering and TNR all out of my own pocket because I always had a job. I would be a rich man today if I never did it, but i AM a rich man anyway in my heart because I did do it. I am proud of all the lives Ive changed for the better. But now I need help to survive. To be able to get established again and continue the work Ive always done behind the scenes of The Brats. My immediate family is only a sister who has been on the National Liver Transplant list for years. Someone I am devoted to and who is my greatest concern. Ive spent a great amount of money trying to keep her life from falling out from under her. So I am appealing to everyone I know for help. If I ever helped you find a home for a lost animal, or if The Brats ever made you smile, gave you some happiness when you were down, or just gave you some great memories, maybe you could find it in your heart to donate something, even a dollar, to my cats and me, to help us get through another day. Each gift would be special and precious to us. I hope to be able to thank each and every one of you and to personally thank you at a future BRATS show. Thanking you for your support ahead of time. Donations can be made below. All my love and respect to you always. Wishing you all a wonderful year ahead. Thanks, Keith West Donations can be made to my Pay Pal account: keithwest311@yahoo. Or checks can be made out to Matt Nuskind, 43-32 Kissena Blvd., Apt. 16E, Flushing, New York 11355. God bless all of you!! JON MONTGOMERY
