PLEASE FIND FOLLOWING THE REPORTS THAT WERE NOT PUBLISHED IN THIS WEEKS PAPER...I AM UNSURE AS TO WHY BUT I PROMISE THEY WERE SENT ON TIME AND WERE RECEIVED..... Under 6: The Under 6s started their first game of rugby league a little shell shocked but came back from 3 tries down to totally take control of the game. The team tackled, spread out and ran hard to eventually win by 3 tries in what was a fantastic effort by all players. Coaches Billy Adams and Macca were so proud of the teams sportsmanship. All players really had fun on the day and look forward to their next game. Coaches would really like to see more under 6s show up to play for the Sharks. Under 8s: The Under 8s played a well stocked Mareeba side on Saturday and held their own for the first half of the game. Fletcher MacDonald had an outstanding attacking game successfully scoring a try after a good run down the side. The girls were on fire with both Hallie Jenkins and Bonita Adams scoring for the Sharks. The newcomers to the game played well for their first run and the veterans steered them around the paddock displaying outstanding team spirit. The Sharks went down after half time due to fatigue, however all played a great game of footy. Man of the Match went to Fletcher and Hallie Jenkins was awarded a Coaches Award for good direction and running. Under 10s: The under 10s had a great start to their season with a 22-0 win over Mareeba on the weekend. With the support of the boys from the Under 9s team, the Sharks dominated the game from the get go with strong running and awesome defence. With a number of newcomers to the sport, the boys managed to hold their formation and display amazing teamwork and sportsmanship. Experienced players guided the first timers and this resulted in a great game of footy for all. Bayley Morana and Sam Marr executed some bone crushing tackles with William Curley and Ryan Gwynne showing great attacking potential. Kai Dury scored twice and converted his own try as did Tyson Osborne and Brodie Francis. Ryan Hawking also successfully converted a try. The Man of the Match went to Kai for his outstanding effort and Coaches Awards went to William, Bayley, Sam and Ryan for a fantastic effort in their first game. Under 11: The Under 11s had an excellent turnout for the first game of the season, with a total of 14 boys making the effort to arrive on time and were well prepared, ( Thank you parents well done). Although the final score was 20 Mareeba and Sharks 14, it was a very close match. The Sharks defended like premiers and special acknowledgment goes to Jaidyn Osborne who had 13 tackles, Lewis Duncan who had 11 tackles and our amazing Captain who made 14 tackles - well done Ethan Chesterfield! Congratulations’ to Braxton who scored 2 tries ( one try was an amazing 90 metres of the field) and Jaidyn who also scored and converted. Our best run ups were Harry and Ethan who both had 10 run ups, well done boys and once again Jaidyn with 9 run ups. Overall all the boys played to the best of their abilities and their coach couldnt be prouder! Ethan Chesterfield received the Man of the Match and Coaches Awards went to Jaidyn and Braxton. Well done boys! Under 12: Under 12 had a tough game on Saturday against a strong Mareeba side losing 36 to 6. The kids showed great potential for the coming season with 6 new kids in the side with 4 playing their first game of football on Saturday. The only try scored on the day was scored by Zac Jenkins and converted by Connor Berzinski. Player of the day went to Bailey Morrison on his debut and coaches encouragement awards go to Meelele, Dichelle and Shania - our three new girls in the side who played awesome for their first game of footy. Also a big thank you to the under 11 boys who so inthusiasticly put their hand up every week to play for us - we cant do it without you kids. Awesome work see you all at training. Under 15/16: A combined team of u15s and u16s travelled to Mareeba last Saturday for their first trial match of the year to take on the Mareeba u16s. With several players unavailable, the Sharks ran on with only twelve players, which has become a familiar situation over the last couple of seasons, and to the boys credit they took to field with a competitive attitude. It was very clear after 10 minutes of play that the Sharks had come to play hard footy, hitting hard in defence and frustrating the Mareeba attack. At half time Mareeba only lead by 8 points and were in for a tough second half if they wanted to win. After a torrid opening 10 minutes of the second half, fatigue set in on the young sharks and with Mareebas luxury of a full bench, the game fell into the hands of the home team, eventually taking the win. Every one of the Mossman boys can definitely hold their heads high and be proud of their efforts on the day in what was a very physical game. Wynn Adams and Jake Newham were outstanding In defence putting their bodies on the line all day, while Waynie Oui, and Junior Port were a constant threat to the Mareeba defence in the halves both scoring tries on the day. Centres, Jalun Williams and Ethan Ross also put in outstanding efforts on the day. Man of the match was Wayne “chooky” Oui for his awesome effort on the day
