PLEASE READ......Dear local friends, family, dog lovers, monkey lovers, shelters, dog breeders and ALL OF FACEBOOK world out there.... The unthinkable has happened to some friends of mine. Their entire home, all their furnishings, clothes, ALL OF THEIR life time possessions were destroyed in a horrible fire before Thanksgiving. This was a mom and dad and two teenage daughters who have lost EVERYTHING. What makes it horribly tragic and makes me cry is the loss of their beloved Sadie, a charming female capuchin who was the light of their life plus many parrots, small reptiles, a kinkajou and many small breed dogs including puppies. This couple has been in the exotic world over 30 years.. Can you you imagine their loss, their grief? They have nothing left... I believe that we all are basically kind at heart and I NEED your help...ALL OF YOU..in many many ways. I have reached out in the past and helped so many people both financially and emotionally.. I am always available for free veterinary consults and now I am asking you to giveback... You dont have to be rich to help, just rich in compassion and I need you to share tis to everyone you know, especially here in Tennessee. I have created a Facebook page called: A Christmas Card for Sadie. Please go to that page and hit follow and please share it.. This is what I am asking: Please make a Christmas card for the Rakestraws and include in it a $20.00 or more gift card from the following retailers: Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, JC Penneys, Kohls, Food City, Tractor Supply, Petco, PetsMart, Mazuri Foods. You dont have to know the Rakestraws to help, you know ME... I have NEVER asked for money or help except my local friends. The Rakestraws have helped me SO MUCH this past year of so much illness..... FOR MY KNOXVILLE and TENNESSEE FRIENDS... I am having a huge drive for item donations. They will need animal items and clothes for the family.. Jackets...Blankets... Please give me any used or new dog crates, blankets, dog toys, dog food, leashes and collars, dog beds. Bird People.. Please donate any large bird, parrot or bird cages, bird toys, bird food and perhaps a parrot or macaw. The Rakestraws have been USDAd for many, many years as Exotic Pet Exhibitors. They are wonderful with their pets, who lived in their home.Their means of livelihood has been taken from them. They will need habitats for reptiles, heating lights, cage environments.. Any and all cages will be welcome. For the monkeys, water bottles, feed buckets, hammocks, diaper covers, blankets, any children toys, swings, balls, monkey food, produce, diapers: size 3 4, 5, diaper wipes.... In other words, anything and everything to do with animals..especially cages.. I don t care if they are old and ugly..Rick can fix them up.. All drop offs will be my home address which is posted on the facebook page. All donations and gift cards will be publically acknowledged on the facebook page, A Christmas Card for Sadie Please, please help.. I cry everytime, I write her name. There is never too little or too much to donate.. I also need your help to share this post and keep it bumped once a week... Please invite everyone to visit Sadies page and follow it. You are welcome to post your thoughts and love there.. PLEASE SHARE TO ALL ANIMAL LOVERS....... Please consider Rick and Becky if you have an exotic animal you would like to place in a great home.. I will house everything for them. Also consider their loss of all the yorkies, Chihuahuas and the malti-poo that was one of my puppies. If you would donate a like puppy, I will house it for them till they create housing.. They are living with friends right now. Insurance does not cover everything and it takes a while to get compensated...... Wont you help??
