Saat itu, keduanya sedang mabuk sehabis menenggak vodka pada 18 Januari lalu. Dua imigran asal Lithuania ini tengah menghabiskan malam dengan minum-minum bersama dengan kekasih Zinkevicus, Kristina. Saat itu, Kristina meminta Cepulionis untuk mandi karena badannya bau. Pria itu marah dan Zinkenvicius membela pacarnya. Pada pembacaan laporan di pengadilan Old Bailey, Jumat 3 Oktober 2013, Zinkevicius memukuli dan menendang Cepulionis dengan brutal. Tidak hanya itu, Zinkenvicius dengan beringas menginjaki kepala Cepulionis saat dia telah terkapar di aspal. Menurut otopsi, ada 54 luka-luka di tubuh korban. Pelaku terancam hukuman penjara seumur hidup. Ini bukan kali pertama pelaku terlibat aksi kekerasan. Pada Februari 2011, pria yang tidak terlihat merasa bersalah di pengadilan ini pernah memukuli seorang tuna wisma di rumah penampungan gelandangan, Whitechapel Mission.
