PLEASE READ! PRAIRIE DOG PLACEMENT SITUATION - YOUR ATTENTION NEEDED! LOCATION: RICHMOND, TEXAS (southwest of Houston). Please help spread the word and feel free to share this announcement in various email communities and social networking channels and contact Gena Seaberg by PRIVATE MESSAGE ONLY or BY PHONE AT 425.870.1729 for more details. THANK YOU! Please meet Mel and Bibi. Mel is an unaltered yearling female prairie dog. Bibi is a three-year-old unaltered female. Both have no known health issues. They are now looking for what will be their forever home. PLEASE NOTE THE HUGE CAGE IN THE PICTURE AND ALL THEIR SUPPLIES GO WITH THEM! Their current caretakers are beside themselves (putting it mildly) that life circumstances have made it necessary and important to rehome Mel and Bibi for their long term health and happiness. This isn’t a decision they made lightly because they absolutely adore them both and are incredibly distraught that they must part with them. Initially they obtained Bibi as a pup and then last year found the ideal friend for her with Mel. They feel that the girls need more attention than they currently are or will be able to provide due to their situation. This placement will be managed carefully to ensure that their future caretaker(s) are committed, loving, and knowledgeable about what it takes to be their forever home. They are quite social and affectionate and will make wonderful additions to anyone’s home. Bibi is much more calm and sedate and loving and Mel is the typical busy little yearling female that will gradually calm more with age and any time the new caretaker invests in her with proper bonding strategies with consistent boundaries. There is no fee for their placement, only that we find them the best home possible. They must be rehomed as a pair as they are very bonded to each other. While they are both very well socialized and loves, there may be a bit of normal behavioral regression as they adjust and establish a bond with a new caretaker and I can assist with the bonding and gradual integration process once a strong caretaker bond is formed. Understand that this small behavior regression is normal because they needs to establish trust again and that doesn’t occur overnight, but they all go through this process. They will NOT be placed in a mixed gender prairie dog home unless under special circumstance where the experience level of the owner warrants and/or where they could be maintained separately if there are other females to join them in two groups (e.g. a male group/female group). The primary caregiver has taken plenty of time to ensure that they have become well socialized. They are both on an ideal diet so no dietary transitions should be necessary if the new owner simply follows basic feeding guidelines. Further details can be discussed with interested parties directly. Please spread the word and accept my sincere gratitude to all that we can work together to find Mel and Bibi new adventures where they will be loved, healthy, happy, and live long lives!!!!
