PLEASE READ: We apologize for the long status but we feel this is necessary. In regards to the severe backlash going on in the Pocono Record comments section and the Facebook communities against AWSOM after the article in the paper this past weekend. It has also been communicated that there are some comments against Camp Papillon circulating on these same forums. First and foremost- Camp Papillon does not make negative comments against other rescues, shelters, caring communities, those helping animals… EVER. This is a policy. If you have a personal feeling about any rescue or shelter- in any way, shape, or form- you are entitled to your PERSONAL OPINION, but in NO way shape or form is anyone allowed to speak as a representative of Camp Papillon against anyone who is attempting to help any animal. If you have commented on the Pocono Record article or on Facebook in a negative manner and indicated that is the opinion of Camp Papillon about any other rescue in our area, including AWSOM, please consider deleting that comment immediately because this is not the opinion of our group. The Board of Camp Papillon cannot stress enough how invested we are in working with all rescue people. We all do what we can do, and recognize that all who are also working toward alleviating animal suffering are doing all they can do. That includes AWSOM. Camp Papillon has a reputation to uphold, one of which is a caring community of volunteers who will help when and where we can! We have spent years attempting to put together an enthusiastic and ever ready group of volunteers that are willing to go above and beyond, and we feel that all of our CURRENT volunteers, not people claiming to be a volunteer, have accomplished that goal!! Camp Papillon is an all-inclusive, ever reaching out hand of animal good…. A rescue that will assist any other animal group we can! Camp Papillon wants to be a bridge and extend a helping hand if we possibly can, we know how swamped our rescue is, the only way we are going to get animals safe is to attempt to work together in a caring and compassionate way…. We denounce negativity in all public forums, except in the most severe cases. If you have concerns, make a phone call, write an email, and ask a question. Please. If you have been part of the negativity and malicious comments about AWSOM or Camp Papillon or any other organization for that matter—we beg you to delete those comments. If you have not participated in any organization on a regular basis to actually know the difficulties we face you have no right to judge. Rather than criticize jump in and make a difference or concentrate on organizations that are scam artists and abuse or neglect animals in their care because the good organizations only suffer from these harmful and unconstructive comments. If you feel justified in promoting negativity instead of helping us make a difference then so be it but we cannot and will not condone it nor can you be part of our organization. (we cannot speak for other organizations) We are working to build bridges and a sterling reputation and cannot afford to have that kind of negativity, no one benefits from it. We love all of you that have stepped up to help the homeless, abused, and neglected animals, whether or not you are part of an organization but lets all work toward our goal together! It is much easier to do the good we do if we do it together. So make a difference, get involved and reach out to help in some way because it will make a bigger impact on the animals that we are trying to help.
